Living in Arizona my animals drink a lot of water and I have always used the jug-type auto-waterers because they held a lot of water and I didn't have to fill the water dishes 3 times a day. Sound great right? While it was nice to not to have to fill the dishes multiple times a day the dishes got dirty quickly from the dogs eating then drinking and they were hard to clean. They had a small hole for the water to go from the main chamber to the drinking bowl and sharp corners. These features were prime places for bacteria to grow and other yucky to hide. I would run it through the dishwasher once a week but it never seemed to get as clean as it should and their was a ring left on the bowl that I could not get off from out hard water.
I thought it was as good as it got. Then I learned about Glacier Point Pet Fountain. It is the best water dish for pets that I have found. The Glacier Point Pet Fountain uses a ceramic dish that is certified lead-free. You may be thinking that there are other companies that use ceramic bowls as well but what you may not know is many other companies ceramic bowls are made in a foreign country and contain lead. The bowl is also rounded without any pesky corners! This makes it super easy to clean! And is is still dishwasher safe!
The refillable bottle that come with it is glass. Glass is safer for your pet because it does not leak toxins into the water and can be sterilized using heat. You can put up to 4 separate bottles on the fountain at a time. The more bottles you use the less often you have to fill them! You don't even have to buy additional or replacement bottles because you can use old vinegar bottles. Using old vinegar bottle not only saves you money but helps the environment as well. It is also super easy to remove and replace. Watch the video below to see how easy it is!
Did you know that the chlorine in your water is harmful to your pet? Well it is. The Glacier Point Pet Fountain filter uses a charcoal filter that removes chlorine along with other toxins. The pump for the filter is unique as well.
Many fountain pumps create heat and warm the water creating an ideal breeding ground for bacteria but the Glacier Point Pet Fountain filter pump utilizes a electronic chiller that counteracts the warmth created by the pump and keeps the water at a chilly 60 degrees. This electronic chiller is the same technology that NASA uses to chill substances in space. The water temperature of your pets water is extremely important because cold water is absorbed better by your pet.
I was a bit worried if my blind cat would drink from the fountain but it worked out great because I can have the tube turned so that it doesn't make any noise. Both of my cats refer the fountain to their old water bowl and I never see them in the kitchen drinking from the dogs water anymore. Now if they would make a much larger on for my 2 large dogs. I will have to get another one for the dogs anyway though because it truly is better for my animals. And the fact that the water is chilled is awesome because they come in so hot from outside in the summer.

ReplyDeleteCurrently, I have one cat. His name is Duncan, and he is a 20 lb.. giant grey cat! He is absolutely beautiful, and is a gentle giant. He was my sister-in-law's cat, and I took him for her because they moved to Hawaii, and because Duncan was a very nervous cat, they were afraid he would have a heart attack or something because of the long trip. It was the best thing to have happen for both of us. I soon found out that he was not a scaredy-cat, but that he had a sight problem that made him very cautious and he was more sensitive to sounds and large movements. I was living alone, after losing my cat a year ago. Duncan was cautious at first, but now, he is much more comfortable and doesn't hide anymore. He is madly in love with me, as I am with him... he is the sweetest, most gentle and loving cat I have ever had :)
