Tangles? Not a problem!
Recently we Munchkin 2's hair has been getting tangled because it is getting longer. She used to love her hair being brushed and now not so much. I feel her stress because I hate to brush my hair when it is wet because the brush gets stuck because of all the tangles. No fun!
Knot Genie to the rescue! The Knot Genie is a super unique brush unlike anything I have seen before. The first thing I noticed was its cloud shape and that it didn't have a handle. Seemed a little odd to me at first but as soon as I had it in my hand and used it I was thrilled with how comfortable it was in my hand. I have arthritis and brushing hair usually makes my hand cramp up, especially holding onto those small diameter brush handles and turning my hand all kinds of unnatural directions. I don't have to worry about any of that with the Knot Genie.
Looking even closer I noticed the the bristles were not all the same length and were not super stiff like many other brushes. This helps brush out the tangles because instead of tugging and pulling the tangle it is gently untangle the hair. The brush also had a slight curve to it as well.
I have to admit I was skeptical that it would be as easy to use and as painless as they claimed. But after Munchkin 2's bath we started her bedtime routine and when it came to brushing her hair she tensed up and I tensed up ready for another battle royale of hair brushing, which she always wins. I am such a sucker. However a few strokes in she was still sitting quietly and patiently, no tears and the tangles were coming right out! Magic! But it gets better, she took the Knot Genie from me and started brushing her own hair. That was a great thing to see. Not only was I able to brush her hair and get the tangles out but she was able to use the brush as well without it getting tangled in her hair.
I am sold. I don't think I will ever go back to traditional brushes. I haven't had a chance to try the Knot Genie on myself yet because every time I try to use it she grabs it out of my hand and yells "MINE". So it looks like I am going to have to buy my own to use. But that is okay because this is one brush that is completely worth it!

ReplyDeleteOMG!! I have really long hair so its a battle everyday with tangles!!!
ReplyDeleteMy girls are truly the kicking and screaming variety! They will lay down, and cover themselves with whatever's nearby just to keep me from gaining access to their lion manes!
ReplyDeleteAn 8 year-old who wants to do her own hair...
ReplyDeleteI always have a problem combing my daughter's hair. She has very long hair and she's very active at school so by the time she gets home, her hair is gross. She always cries when I brush her hair =(
ReplyDeleteMy daughter often complains when I brush/ comb her hair.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter always gets a really bad tangle in this one spot on the back of her head. Needless to say its a fight to comb the tangles out even after her hair has been washed & conditioned plus a detangler added in after. If this could help, that would be amazing!!!
ReplyDeleteI have long hair myself and I have trouble brushing it out after shampooing it. Thanks for the giveaway! :)
ReplyDeleteI want to try this for myself. My tangle battles are with my own hair! Its long & very thin & tangles every time its washed. This results is pain & hair loss from having to pull so hard to get the tangles out.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter has fine hair and wakes up every morning with a rats nest. We have tried alot of things to brush her hair and nothing seems to work. She is very tender headed as well so it is alot of crying and very trouble sum in the mornings. I have long thick hair and am very tender headed myself. I have had to cut my hair just to be able to get the knots out. Thank you for the chance to enter in this contest. Good Luck to everyone.
ReplyDeleteHair is so tangle that the hairdresser cut a lot from the end.
ReplyDeleteMy son has straight here and has no problem with tangles. I want this for myself! I have thick curly hair and it being long doesn't help at all with the tangles. I've had this problem all my life and now understand why my mom give me a short haircut when I was younger.. my hair is a tangles-magnet. To this day I have to battle with the tangles and worry from all the hair loss due to the tangles. No-tangle sprays are okay but if this brush can do it, then I want to try it.
ReplyDeleteI raised boys and brushing hair was not a problem--they usually had crew cuts. Now I have two granddaughters and brushing hair is a big deal!
ReplyDeleteI've used one before, my nieces have one, these things are AMAZING! No tangles or tears, and my daughter actually WANTED me to brush her hair with this thing!
ReplyDeleteSince I have such thick, curly coarse long hair, I often want to take a pain pill before attempting to comb it even with my trusty wide tooth comb, I have broken so many combs and brushes with my hair type, I wonder if I could even use this or would I break it too?You know what the funny thing is I am 49 years old and have started loosing hair, it's just that enough remains on my head right now for 3 people! I really want to try it! Tammy Baugh
ReplyDeleteI have broken more combs and brushes even though they were wide tooth type, just since my hair is Long, Curly, Coarse and Thick! It hurts so bad. I am 49 years old and even though it is falling out on it's own, I just can't shed enough fast enough! I still have more hair ontop my head than 3 people combined! So I can't help but wonder, would this thing actually work for me? Or like so many others would I break it too! I sure would like to try it and find out for myself! I am posting as annomous but I am Tammy Baugh.ragdollmama@comcast.net
ReplyDeleteMy four year old has hair that gets so tangled...It is thin and getting long right now but is super frizzy and when she wakes up is just a big ball of nats!
ReplyDeleteHaving young children who have no enjoyment sitting in one spot long enough to get their hair brushed. Let alone having them tug and yank when their hair is in tangles causes a crying mess for both them and I :(
ReplyDeleteI want one! My son actually gets some tough tangles. It's thin and can get knotted up when he plays hard. I know he'd appreciate this for his tender head.

ReplyDeleteThe worse parts is the tears in the morning getting ready for school---the little knots and tangles are just aweful but everyone knows that-so we on the floor and start at the bottom and get the little tangles out after an hour we are done!
ReplyDeleteMy 4 year old daughter sidney has long curly hair. As you can imagine the tangles and knots that curly hair can get. I hate doing her hair. Every days is a battle and always ends in tears. The screaming and crying the whole.time and I even spray her hair with leave in conditioner and water before starting. I get sooo tempted to cut it. I feel so bad for her cuz I know it hurts her.
ReplyDeleteEvery morning my daughter and I have to fight to brush her hair. Lately, she yells that I am not trying to hold her hair and purposely hurting her.
ReplyDeleteOh gosh reading all the entries I know I'm not alone! My daughter has naturally kinky curly hair and we go through the fights and the tears every morning. I swear it's the most stressful time of the day!

Brushing is ouch.
ReplyDeleteI can have my hair perfectly tangle free, after brushing forever, and it's not 3 minutes and I can't even run my fingers through my hair. This is going to be so wonderful!

My stepdaughter has very long, dark, thick curly hair. I'm not used to working with hair like that. Mine is the exact opposite, short blonde and straight. Now I have a little one and I believe her hair is going to be the exact same. I see lots of knots, snags and tears in our future!
